Basically I guess this character is like Hawkman. But isn't...
When I'm doing covers for this series I'm generally given one character to draw. In most cases, like this one, I'm not told the story. I get a few images of the character that interior artist Peter Kraus or John Cassaday has drawn. So what I do is more of a character study. After thinking about this character I wanted to convey that he is neither man nor bird. He's in the middle. Alone. Are his loyalties to the birds on that wire or to the people on the street below? What's going on in his head? Is he happy being what he is? Does he accept it? Deep thoughts. And it's a comic book. Funny. |
